Zen Garden

Looking to get involved in a new project that promotes peace and tranquility? We are excited to announce our upcoming project, a zen garden! We are currently working with different methods of planting to create an even more diverse garden landscape!

A zen garden with herbs and other plants will be a wonderful addition to our outdoor space. We have a space for the garden where we are planning to create a beautiful and harmonious design by organizing the plants according to their elemental properties.

The four elements should be represented

To begin with, we want to consider the four elements of water, fire, earth and air. Each element has its own characteristics and can be represented by different plants. For example, water can be represented by plants that require a lot of moisture, such as ferns or water lilies. Fire can be represented by plants that have bright, bold colors, such as red or orange flowers. Plants with a strong grounding quality, like sage or rosemary, can represent earth. Finally, air can be represented by plants that have a light and airy quality, for example lavender or chamomile.

Planting balanced in the Yin and Yang shape

In Chinese philosophy the universe is governed by a cosmic duality, Yin and Yang, two opposing but complementary forces. There cannot be Yin without Yang, and vice versa. It’s an interplay of both forces which embodies unity in diversity and harmony. Therefore, we had the idea to create a balanced design by placing plants in a specific yin and yang pattern. This will involve planting the same number of plants for each element on opposite sides of the garden, creating a harmonious balance between the different energies. In the center of the garden, we are planning to place a fountain that will represent the flow of water and bring a sense of tranquility to the space.

Volunteers wanted!

We are currently seeking volunteers who are passionate about gardening and interested in helping us create this outdoor space. Volunteers will be involved in the planning and design process, as well as the planting and maintenance of the garden. We are looking for individuals and groups who are committed to the project and able to devote time to its success.

If you are interested in volunteering, please reach out to us via email, social media or the Contact Us page. We would love to hear from you and have you join us on this exciting project. Thank you for your interest and we look forward to working with you to create a beautiful zen garden at Jardins Domaine Decelles.
